The participants will compete with fifteen other European cities and will have the opportunity to develop their ideas internationally
Innovation Forum, in collaboration with IQS Tech Factory, organizes for the first time IMAGINE IF!, a truly global competition and accelerator program for science-based entrepreneurial projects in Barcelona, under the theme “Improving Life”.
IMAGINE IF! Barcelona is searching for projects in the fields of Biotech, CleanTech, MedTech, Digital Health and Pharma which have a significant impact on improving human or animal wellbeing to participate at the June pre-acceleration program. During this period, participants will have the opportunity to take part in tailored workshops, pitch in front of leading key players in the startup ecosystem, build an extensive network across the Innovation Forum platform, and receive mentorship from highly experienced professionals. Confirmed mentors include, among others; Laia Crespo, Investment Director in Ysios Capital; Daniel Oliver, Director of Capital Cell; Oriol Pascual, Director at IQS Tech Factory; Jordi Naval, Managing Director of Fundació Bosch i Gimpera; and Carlos Esteban, Investment Director of Caixa Capital Risc.
By the end of the first round of the program participating teams will have an improved business plan and the chance to pitch at the local Demo Day. The winner will receive a money prize and a free trip to Cambridge to represent Barcelona at the Innovation Forum-Leaders Conference 2016. The best teams from all around the world will enter in the global IMAGINE IF! Acceleration program to receive training from world class experts and seasoned entrepreneurs and will compete for a 30.000 GBP prize money.
The competition, step by step
IMAGINE IF! competition and accelerator program will start with a launch event on 2 June in Barcelona. The selected teams will be announced and they will begin preparing for the local pre-acceleration phase. From 11th June until 8th July the participants will take part on the local acceleration program building stronger business plans for the Demo Day on 11th July. Finalists will enter in a Global 50 pool with victors of the other cities. Ten projects will be selected to participate in the Global Pitch at the Innovation Forum – Leaders Conference in Cambridge on 22 September. The winner of the competition will get 30.000 GBP to continue developing his project.
Finally, all 10 finalists from the Final Pitch will take part in the acceleration program from 23 September until 20 December, and will have the opportunity to participate in the Investor’s Conference on January 2017 in Cambridge.
The registration deadline for IMAGINE IF! is on 6th June.
Innovation Forum and IQS Tech Factory promote entrepreneurial projects
Innovation Forum and IQS Tech Factory have teamed up to organize IMAGINE IF!, an innovative project that focuses on ideas which improve life through scientific innovation.
Since its beginning, the Innovation Forum is a global grassroots network of over 10.000 innovators that seeks to build bridges between industry, academia and government. Its aim is to facilitate a multidisciplinary structure which brings together engineers, business professionals, economists, doctors, scientists and policy makers, by fostering synergy between academia, industry and the public sector to accelerate the speed of technology adoption for the benefit of the wider society.
IQS Tech Factory was born in 2015 to contribute to industrial development by turning disruptive ideas into business opportunities, being a generator of transforming industries. IQS Tech Factory promotes and provides support to promising tech ventures by organizing presentations, workshops, network events and assessment in business development.
